Professor Horst Hippler passes away

Professor Horst Hippler, the long-standing Chairman of the Shareholders' Meeting of TLB GmbH, former Rector of the University of Karlsruhe and founding President of KIT, has passed away.

The Technologie-Lizenz-Büro der Baden-Württembergischen Hochschulen (TLB) GmbH mourns the death of Professor Horst Hippler, the long-standing Chairman of the Shareholders' Meeting, who passed away on 6 March 2024 at the age of 77. Hippler had been a member of the shareholders' meeting of TLB GmbH since 2003 as Rector of the former University of Karlsruhe. From 2003 to 2011, he played a key role in shaping the development of the patent exploitation agency as Chairman of the shareholders. Professor Hippler was a strong advocate for the interests of TLB and knew how to skilfully mediate between the interests of the universities and the state.
